Also known as:  Rocky ledge penstemon, rockvine beardtongue, elliptic-leaved penstemon

Habitat: Grows on open rocky and grassy slopes at high elevations in the mountains.

Interest: It forms low, colourful  mats growing up to 20 cm tall.  The trumpet-shaped flowers are pink- to lilac-purple-coloured. The plant is semi-evergreen. Some of the leaves turn red and fall off during the autumn. It is used as a rock garden plant.

Location: Table Mountain, Alberta
