Also known as: Viviparous knotweed. Habitat: Montane forests to alpine ridges. Interest: The flower heads consist of yellow to white flowers, are shaped like puff-balls, and are often become tinged with pink or lavender as they age. The plant form mounds that sometimes exceed 0.3 m across. The leaves are all basal, white-woolly on both surfaces with a tone of green on the upper surface, are elliptic in shape, up to 2 cm long and 3-15 mm wide.
