Also known as: Habitat: Rocky slopes in the montane, subalpine, and alpine zones. Interest: Blue to purple solitary flower heads up to 5 cm wide!; flower rays are up to 2 cm long; the central disk flower is yellow to 4 cm wide; is a biennial or perennial wildflower with one to several erect stems; up to 10 cm high. leaves are covered with long, soft, shaggy gray hairs; lower leaves are up to 4 cm long and upper leaves narrower and shorter.
