White Mountain Marsh Marigold

Also known as: White Marsh Marigold, Twinflowered Marsh Marigold, Western Marsh Marigold, or Broadleaved Marsh Marigold

Habitat: Wet mountain habitats in alpine and subalpine regions.

Interest: Mountain Marsh Marigold is a members of the buttercup family. It is native from Alaska to New Mexico.  It is a perennial herb. The stem is generally without leaves and stands about 10-20 cm tall. Heart-shaped leaves occur mostly at the base of the stem.  The leaves are up to 15 cm in length and may have smooth, wrinkled, or toothed edges. The inflorescence consists of one or more flowers; each flower being up to 4 cm wide. There are NO petals. The petal-like sepals which are usually white or sometimes yellow. In the center are many long, flat stamens and fewer pistils.

Location: Montana Mountain, Carcross, Yukon.
