Habitat:  Tundra, alpine herb mats, rocky slopes, seepage channels.

Interest: Amphi-Beringian (Amphi-Beringian describes species that occur on both sides of the Bering Sea), purple or blue petals organized at top of flowering stem in a cylindrical spike; up to 20 cm tall; somewhat fleshy perennial; simple basal leaves; stem leaves are alternate, sessile (without a stalk), and merge with flower spike bracts.
